Nowadays 3D BIM (Building Information Modeling) represents the more innovative tool in
management of design process and it is applied to new architectural projects and also to restoration
of historical buildings.
3D BIM is a semantic 3D model in which it's possible to distinguish and modify every single part of
the designed building (walls, floors, structures, windows, doors, etc.). With this method it's possible
to check quantities and materials of every architectural element.
Besides from 3D model it's possible to extrapolate vectorial CAD drawings (plans, elevations,
sections, constructive details, etc.) that get automatically updated everytime the model is modified.
To communicate the project, materials and finishes it's possible to make photorealistic renderings
and videos to virtually visit the designed building.
Technical documents could be integrated with further analysis, such as solar study or building energy analysis.
